We are looking for postdoctoral associates and PhD candidates in the area of Network Science and Science of Science to join us at the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI) in Paris. We seek curious, motivated, autonomous, ambitious individuals with strong analytical skills, network science or data science experience and interest in applying it towards social systems. The ideal candidate has a physics, computer science, bioinformatics, data science, network science, computational social science or mathematics background with coding experience, and thrives in inter/anti-disciplinarity dynamic environments, is inspired and motivated by daily interactions with diverse peers, comfortably mixes disciplines and wishes to explore uncharted domains.
The project will investigate the face-to-face interactions in the lab for a large number of teams participating to the iGEM international scientific competition using discrete sensors. This project is deeply interdisciplinary, at the intersection of engineering (sensors), network science / physics (describing and modeling interactions), statistics / data science (data analysis), social sciences (data interpretation), epistemology / science studies (making of science), and biology (understanding the lab context). Given the international nature of the collaboration (Stanford, Boston, Paris), the applicant should be comfortable with working in a decentralized manner, using digital collaborative tools.
Successful applicants will benefit from state-of-the-art office space, IT support, as well as the CRI Labs that include: Makerspace, Mobile and Virtual Reality technology, Game design and application, and MOOC/online content development.
